AI on the Isle of Man

The Isle of Man Government is not just talking about AI. It is funding adoption, putting enabling infrastructure in place, and actively supporting AI implementation across sectors.

Through Digital Isle of Man, the Government is leading the establishment and alignment of the Island's National AI Office, working in close partnership across industry and the wider community. Activate AI sits as an early enabler of this approach, making AI practical and accessible for organisations of all sizes.

The initiative operates in two phases. The first focuses on adoption and awareness, providing free training through the LearnAI.im virtual platform with over 200 hours of on-demand content, instructor-led sessions, and industry-specific workshops. You can also attend free in-person AI training sessions. Led by industry experts, these face-to-face sessions aim to help residents and businesses leverage AI for innovation, productivity, and growth. The second phase introduced the AI Solution Service, where businesses work directly with trusted Activation Partners to develop pilot projects and proof-of-concept solutions at no cost.

The initiative is open to businesses at any stage of their AI journey. Whether you have a clear problem you want to solve or are simply curious about what AI could do for your operations, the Activate AI initiative provides a structured, supported path from awareness to implementation.

Building on the momentum of Activate AI, the Isle of Man Government established the National AI Office (NAIO) in January 2026, led by Digital Isle of Man. It serves as a single point of national coordination for AI activity across the public sector, industry, and the broader economy.

The NAIO has three core objectives: supporting economic growth and competitiveness, improving public service delivery and efficiency, and increasing AI literacy across the community. In its first year, it will finalise a National AI Strategy, deliver an island-wide literacy programme, produce guidance on safe and ethical AI use, and assess workforce impacts including reskilling needs.

The government's target is ambitious but grounded in real progress: a 10% increase in GDP, approximately £530 million, by 2030, driven by AI-enhanced productivity and innovation across both public and private sectors. The island is also collaborating internationally through a Memorandum of Understanding with AI Singapore, giving local businesses access to global expertise and resources.
